now we know where you are! We thought you drowned in the ocean a long time ago. Thanks for liking our site and ceratinly, there's nothing funny about scholarly work. There's a joke and then there's dissecting a joke. I did not come across any highly-debated artist or writer where at one point, scholars did not lash out at each other for not appreciating the humor of their subject too much. I couldn't care less. I'm sure Duchamp would check out our site, have a good laugh, and then probably surf on to some XXX-rated stuff, as you suggest, who knows - it's futile.

As for the humor - as long as you enjoy what you're doing or try to replace the artist's work by what you write about it, you do not risk becoming too dried up. The best way ALWAYS is to read the artist's writings, look at his work and life. Let the academics come last and never let them tell you of how when and why to look!

There's "ha-ha" and there's "aha".
