Since frontal views of the Large Glass in
Philadelphia do not clearly show the three
horizontal glass planes separating
the upper half from the lower half, the best
picture reproduced by far can be found in
Linda Henderson's 'Duchamp in Context' (Princeton:
Princeton UP, 1998; fig. 88). That this separation
known as the Bride's 'clothes' only became clear
in Breton's 1934 essay on the Large Glass ('The
Lighthouse and the Bride') where to Duchamp
specified the area in a reproduction.
