ima VIZUAL perZON

The eye is the mind. There is no "visual" that is not participating in the whole mind, which knows so much more than you can see that you flinch when something threatens the eye, and your blindspot is invisibly rewoven by the mind that prefers not to have holes in the field of vision. Cute is as cute does. Primitive has rotted away. If you don't care to think, others do, and they are increasingly well armed, and they are thinking with their eyes through which their minds take aim. We really are surrounded by evils, and would do well to keep our eyes wide open, and to keep our minds on our eyes. Picasso tried to with Guernica.

"What do you see when you turn out the lights?" Of course Duchamp and the magazine, The Blindman, would fuse into this bulletin-board better than my Jeremiad; meanwhile think your way through an issue of the photography magazine called Blindspot. I should confess that during a cerebral infarction I had visual experiences that weren't connected with my mind, but then a doctor told me I couldn't have seen whatI saw. That didn't cure the effects of the malady, but it almost cured me of doctors.
