It is worthwhile having a look at Joseph Beuys if you wish to break the Duchamp mould, Since for Duchamp 'Art is life' and Beuys 'everyone an artist' one of these gentlemen posed the question, "can one do works that are not of art." Beuys is known to say " You have those that are artists and those that are 'not-artist' therefore everyone an artist." Duchamp said of the Fluxus movement " I have done it all already" reactionary Beuys makes " The silence of Marcel Duchamp is overrated." And Duchamp said, he believed there was someone in europe talking about him. But they hadn't spoken to him!
One wonders how one might break the rules of Duchmap as one might break the rules of life!
