Welcome to our bulletin board for news and events
related to Marcel Duchamp and his circle.
Feel free to post any info you think is newsworthy.
ASRL makes the beginning in drawing attention to the
some upcomimg publications and shows

In England and Austria Richard Hamilton and Ecke Bonk
just finished working on a typographic version of
Marcel Duchamps' "White Box" of 1967 ("A l'Infinitif",
New York: Cordier & Ekstrom). Their forthcoming book
will be published by the ‘typosophic society' and
London's Tate Gallery.

Commemorating the 31st anniversary of his death, two
New York galleries will hold exhibitions focusing on
Duchamp and his influence on modern art. Achim Moeller
Fine Art will show "Marcel Duchamp: The Art of Making
Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" (2 October
1999 - 15 January 2000) while Curt Marcus presents
"Apropos of Marcel: Making Art after Duchamp in the
Age of Mechanical Reproduction" (5 October 1999 -
30 October 1999) . Both shows are curated by Dada
and Duchamp-scholar Francis M. Naumann and will be
accompanied by fully illustrated catalogues. The shows'
openings will coincide with yet another of Naumann's
publications on Duchamp: "Marcel Duchamp: The Art of
Making Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction"
(New York: Harry N. Abrams, 1999; 339 pages).

In France, Hector Obalk is collaborating with Francis
Naumann on a publication of Duchamp's letters.
"Marcel Duchamp: Selected Correspondence" will be
published by Ludion: Antwerp, Belgium, and is
scheduled to appear before the close of 1999.

From Belgrade, Yugoslavia, the Art Science Research
Laboratory just received a copy of Zoran Gavric's
book on Marcel Duchamp. Published by Bogovada in
1995 and close to 400 pages in length, we were asked
by the authors to make this exhaustive study available
to any native speaker interested in the subject.
Breaching the gap of two countries at war only a short
while ago, we were grateful to see that books,
not bombs were crossing the border this time.

In Germany, art-historian Herbert Molderings'
close look at Duchamp's posthumous work
"Given: 1. The Waterfall, 2. The Illuminating Gas"
will be published this year as part of the Fischer
publishing house's "kunststueck"-series ("Gegeben sei:
1. Der Wasserfall, 2. Das Leuchtgas". Frankfurt:
Fischer, 1999; ca. 10 Euros).
