: : I'm wondering if there are Green Box replicas available anywhere. I'm interested in finding a facsimile of the box and the notes as they appeared in their original form, as opposed to just the text of the notes compiled in book form. I have done some looking, but I can't seem to find anything of the sort. Does such a thing exist?
: Yes. Duchamp made 300 copies of his Green Box.They sell for between $10,000(in bad condition)to $25,000(in perfect condition)By coinsidence, our next ToutFait,Marcel Duchamp Online Studies Journal (out by October 2000)will have an article with details about what characterizes bad or good condition in a Green Box,in both the 300 regular and the 20 deluxe edtions. Best regards, Rhonda
Thank you for the speedy reply. I should have been more clear - I'm aware of the series of boxes Duchamp produced (and assumed they were pretty pricey/rare) but I was thinking that perhaps some latter-day publisher might have made a garden variety faux-G.B. replica for the low-budget enthusiast. It doesn't seem like that's the case (perhaps there are copyright/permission issues - I recall a few years ago a Duchamp handwriting-font for computers was discontinued due to a lawsuit from the estate, I believe). Should the ASRL ever create such a thing, I'll be first in line! Until then, I'll have to save my lunch money for the real McCoy. Thanks again, Reid
